Carolina’s Pride Week begins April 8

Pride Week at Carolina brings together the LGBTQ Center, 学生组织, University departments and community organizations to host events that highlight the history, 包容, 交集, expression and advocacy within LGBTQIA+ communities.

Tar Heels will have the chance to attend an array of events from 工艺品 to live entertainment. The week gets an early start April 6-7 with Aradella Wood’s performance of “Building Transworlds,” an oral history on the trans and nonbinary experience. 但这仅仅是个开始.

4月8日星期一

• Mindfulness Monday: Take in the beauty of Coker Arboretum with a guided tour from the North Carolina Botanical Garden and a mindfulness painting session. (10 a.m.-中午和下午2-4点.m.)

4月9日星期二

• “Be Rooted” Sow Beautiful Event: This interactive event hosted by Davis Edible Garden will pair you with a plant rooted in queer history that you can take home. Spice up your plant with some herbs, also available at the garden. (2-3:30 p.m.)
• BIPOC/Queer Creativity Event “OUT-Spoken”: Enjoy an evening of spoken word poetry, music and fashion from Xpressions at the Sonja Haynes Stone Center for 研究 in Black Culture and History. (7-8:30 p.m.)

4月10日星期三

• Pride In the Pit: Head to the Pit and enjoy games, win prizes and grab some free food. (11 a.m.-2 p.m.)
• Queer Intergenerational Dinner/Mixer: At this QGAPS-sponsored event, connect with Orange County residents over a free dinner. 注册要求. (5-7 p.m.).

4月11日星期四

• “Queer Camp” 艺术/ Crafts at BeAM and Cooperative Games: Check out the BeAM Maker Space at Murray Hall and make fridge magnets, buttons and other items to commemorate this year’s event. (3-5 p.m.)
• N南部.C. BBQ Fundraiser: Hosted by the biology department graduate teaching assistants at the Genome Sciences courtyard, this dinner features pit barbecue and sides with vegan options available. (6-8 p.m.)
• “Disc-O-Fever”: Head down to Karen Shelton Stadium and end the night with a game of glow-in-the-dark Ultimate Frisbee. (7-9 p.m.)

4月12日星期五

• “Merfolx Shell-O-Bration”: Pride Week ends with the Shell-O-Bration, a mermaid-themed pool party at Bowman-Gray Memorial Pool with food, dress-up materials and the chance to win free prizes. (8-10 p.m.).
